Why is a car at another rooftop harder to find than a car on your lot?

A car at another rooftop is harder to find because that car is invisible rather than merely misplaced. On your own lot, a missing unit is a search problem — somebody walks rows and eventually finds the car. At a second rooftop, there is no row to walk, no colleague to ask, and often no shared screen that shows the unit at all.

The practical result is a phone call chain. A salesperson calls a manager, who calls the other store, who asks a porter to go look. That chain runs on availability and goodwill, and it collapses on a Saturday when every store is busy at the same time.
